GUST was set up by local residents who are opposed to the potential erection by P.F.R (Partnership for Renewables) of a 122 mtr/400 ft wind turbine 50 mtrs/180 ft from the
public footpath along the river in Gunthorpe.
To give you some idea of scale...it’s taller than a space shuttle!
Engena quote in their Screening Request document that:
"The construction phase is anticipated to take a maximum of four
months and the turbine will be in-situ for up to 25yrs before being de-commissioned".
These are some of the problems associated with wind turbines:
> Danger of Ice Throw from the sails can reach up to 250 metres
> Health issues including Tinnitus, Migraines and Epilepsy from flicker?
> Local wildlife disturbed
> Aesthetics of proximity to village : too big, too close!
> House prices will be affected
